Grocery Store Clerk Wins $10K Video Game Making Prize

Not bad for something created in his spare time. And to think of all those hours I wasted playing video games.
David Flook of Burlington, Ontario took home the grand prize in Microsoft’s recent Dream-Build-Play contest. His game “Blazing Birds” brought in $10,000, and he is happy with his creation.
“Think of it as a painting that starts as a blank canvas,” he told the Sun Media in a recent article. He used to create games as a teenager, and it looks like his experience has paid off.
The game will be available on Xbox Live Arcade this fall, and Flook will even get royalties from the sale of the game.
Why put emphasis on him being a grocery store clerk? That’s just funny. No reason why he shouldn’t be able to create a game.
I’m glad they put that emphasis. It shows that Joe regular can do this without an engineering degree. You just have to be creative to win this contest, and even Joe Regular can make big bucks $$$.
Except Joe Regular was only working because his daddy who pays for his college makes him work.
