Kazunori YamauchiSpeaking in an interview, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that Gran Turismo 4 for the PSP will most likely not be released this year or finished for that matter.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Yamauchi stated:

“We had been developing the PSP version, but the problem was that the PS3 version took much more time and effort than we had first imagined. So that’s been delayed – I don’t think we’ll be able to make the end of this year for the PSP version, but we are working on it.”

He also elaborated on the PSP version being influenced by the online aspect of the PS3:

“Once we experienced PS3 online and went through all of that, we came to the conclusion that PSP should not be a standalone product – it should be linked in to the world of Gran Turismo, linked with the PlayStation 3.”

The Gran Turismo series has shipped over 48 million units worldwide since the first version appeared on the original PlayStation and the recently released GT5: Prologue not only entered the chart over in the UK at number one but within a week became the fastest-selling PS3 title. Plus, thanks to the GT series, Yamauchi was invited by Nissan to help design the multifunction display for the GT-R, which is so bloody gorgeous it makes me swear like a sailor every time I look at it.

I’m glad they’re still working on it. I read in another site that they never intended to bring GT to the PSP, that the game’s ment to be a driving simulator (and it is.) and the PSP couldn’t perform to their specs. At least we know that was a lie now. It’s coming oOh it’s coming.
