GOG.com Gears Up for “OMG Last-minute Deals!” Weekend

Good Old Games is shifting into high gear for the holidays. CD Projects new enterprise has added Gift Certificates to its line up of classic games. If you have a specific title in mind you can now easily gift games to your friends with a click of a mouse (and a charge of your credit card).
Continuing with the whole December Frenzy Month theme, GOG.com is throwing in a last minute deal for this weekend. Beginning Friday at noon EDT until Monday at noon, you can snatch up the entire Earthworm Jim collection (Earthworm Jim 1+2, alongside Earthworm Jim 3D) for just $9.98. You need to buy both games in the same order to qualify for the deal. Those of you who’ve already bought one of the titles can get the other at a $1 off discount.
GOG.com is still a very new digital download service. Its catalog of oldies but goodies just seems to keep growing, although Lucas Arts is still on my wish list. The biggest draw to these games, and I’m sure a reason some of your favorites aren’t showing up yet, is that all titles must be free of DRM and 100% compatible with XP and Vista. Considering what happened to my laptop the last time I tried to run Day of the Tentacle even with an emulator, I can see where that might be a problem.
