god of war God of War II Director Leaves Sony, God of War III Confirmed

First it was David Jaffe jumping ship, and now it’s the director of God of War II, Cory Barlog, who is leaving Sony. He’ll be leaving to pursue other opportunities, according to 1UP, which received confirmation from SCEA Santa Monica that Barlog was indeed leaving.

“We can confirm that Cory Barlog, game director for God of War II, is leaving the SCEA SM Studio and we are grateful for his work and creative vision for the critically acclaimed God of War franchise,” a Sony spokesperson stated. “Moving forward, we are confident in the God of War team, as they are an extremely talented group of people that are passionate about the franchise and dedicated to creating even more epic content with God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP and God of War III for PS3.”

Note how the statement mentions God of War III, which is the first time the game has been officially mentioned by Sony. And beyond that, the fact that it will be on PS3 – nothing surprising, and is in fact exactly what was expected.
