Go Make a Sandwich While DMC4 Installs on Your PS3

There’s been plenty of complaints over the past few days as word was spread that you’re required to install roughly 5GB of data on your hard drive the first time you boot up Devil May Cry 4 on PlayStation 3. Chris Kramer has posted on the Capcom US blog confirming that you do indeed need to install the files, but that it’s a one time thing that will yield “near-Super Nintendo speed load times.” And, as Kramer points out, anyone who has ever purchased a PC game before has been through this, and at least DMC4 offers a retelling of the story from the first three games.
Kramer facetiously suggests that while you wait for the game to load, if you’re not in the mood for backstory, go make a sandwich.
If you don’t want to watch the “Previously, on Devil May Cry…” portion of the install process, go make a sandwich and grab a soda, then come on back. You’re going to be spending some serious time with this game, and we don’t want you going hungry. Low blood sugar will make you dizzy and you’ll need to be focused like an Alan Parsons Project to defeat the enemies in this game.
Wah! The game takes 20 minutes to install the first time. Wah! Have you ever played a PC game? At least we aren’t making you shuffle multiple discs into a ROM drive, or continuously click “Yes!” on a series of endless Windows dialog boxes. Installing on a console may seem like a weird idea, but there’s a real benefit. Unreal Tournament also has an option to install files onto your PS3; I’ve done it and it makes a great game even better.
Honestly people, don’t complain about the need to install. Quick loads are absolutely heavenly, and it’s not like the files will be permanently ripped to your hard drive until the end of time.

too many people are crying about this. Who can’t wait a quick 20 minutes and who doesn’t have plenty of room on their PS3 drive?
A 20 minutes wait, for installing a game is nothing. besides the hard drive on the ps3 can be easily upgraded, mine has a 250GB
Its still on a PS3 so its automatically “teh suck”
I installed it after work and you know what I did… I had dinner while it installed. People need to quit bitching about this 20 minute install. The load times after the install are almost not even noticeable.
What about the 360? I think its an even greater offense for 33% of console owners to end up with the RROD where you then have to ship it back and wait days to weeks for a replacement to be shipped back, isn’t that much worse than having to wait 20 min to install a game? With that scenario you can’t do anything with your system at all and the difference here is that the PS3 DMC4 is “adding” the benefit of faster load times during the 20 min wait where the 360 is “fixing” a problem with the design of the system by shipping a replacement. So when you compare the two worlds I would take the 20 min install of the PS3 version over having a dead system any day.
This is utter bullshit, and I will never play this game now because of this. You lost a potential sale!
I heard on the sneak that the PS3 has dual lasers…Think about that brah that’s pretty godamn sweet….Also I enjoy a good party everyonce and awhile…Peace Brah…
PS: 20 minutes is more than enough time for an afternoon sneak jack..That’s what I did when it was installing and man I like watch some weird shit….
I think they did nearly everything right – an option to quickstart the game from the disc would have been nice, in case someone might want to show it to a friend but has already deleted the game on the harddisc. But telling the story of the first three parts while you are waiting is really a good idea, and having faster loading time is always appreciated (thats one of the reasons i had an modchip in the xbox – this was fucking awesome with a lot of games loading times).
Um I played this game all day yesterday on my Xbox 360 and I didn’t notice once any lag or long load times. And there is no 20 minute install for this game on the Xbox 360, in fact there is no install at all. Yet again another reason why I am glad I bought a 360 and not a PS3.
PS3 = Epic FAIL!!!!
ManOfTeal. You are an idiot.
@weclock: Dude, you don’t even have a PS3. So shut it.
Shut up Norbit
What’s it like being Sony’s bitch?
@ ManOfTeal, the PS3 is an epic fail? strange, it sold more in it’s first year than your precious box did, so which console is an epic fail again?
Hint: Not the PS3
Hmm…I didn’t need to install anything that took 20 min. Just went like a normal install.
We all have different preferences but u don’t need to go shutting every other console down.
I’ve only browsed this site for a few days but to me it seems like the writers are Microsoft fanboys? I don’t really care but it’s kind of annoying.
@Sk8man
Um excuse me asshat but who gives a flying flip how many more sold in the first year???? What matters is total worldwide sales.
Current World Wide Sales figures: From VGCharts.com
Xbox 360: 16.82 Million units
PS3: 9.76 Million units
Don’t even get me started on how bad the Wii is kicking everybody’s ass.
Ok, I’ll say it:
Wii: 20.88 Million Units
So I say again
PS3 = Epic FAIL!!!!
Wii60 FTW!!!!!!
Let me reiterate once again that VGCharts numbers should never be trusted.
@Chris – What part of this story was anti-PS3? I’m saying people are wrong to complain about this install, so I’m not sure what gives you that impression.
Man of teals right.
ps3 only sold in its first year, because ppl didnt realise it was shite..
but then again im not one to argue about consoles because theres more important shit..
Atleast nintendo get what they deserve
and chris is right too…
why are you arguing…
What’s unreliable about the sales figures on VGcharts.com?
i agree with manofteal xbox 360 is a mcuh better console i was thinking of buying a ps3 since i have a ps2 but after checking the facts looking at games and hardware it was a very easy choice xbox 360
