Gears of War Prequel Coming in Book Form

Looks like Gears of War fans may soon be able to see just exactly how the world got into such a bad state at the beginning of the game. In late August of this year, a prequel novel is slated to be released, titled Gears of War: The Pendulum Wars. If you’ve played the game, you may remember these wars being mentioned as an almost legendary event, which gained the protagonist, Marcus Fenix, some notoriety. The book promises to reveal more of the characters’ back stories and some of the events leading up to the beginning of the game. Unfortunately, it’s also being penned by Steven L. Kent, who’s kind of built a reputation as a sci-fi hack writer; the Uwe Boll of literature, I guess. Of course, that’s not going to stop rabid Gears of War fans from snatching this up once it come out.
