GDC 08: Peter Molyneux Demos Fable 2

Say what you will about Lionhead’s previous games; Peter Molyneux has some truly grand ideas about what you can do in a game. The above video shows off some the game’s co-op mode which has several noteworthy details in it, such as the ability to get pregnant (if playing as a female character) and the ability to transfer money/stats from your co-op sessions back to your solo quest.

As you’ll also see in the video, your husband and child won’t be too pleased with you if you decide to disappear for six months without a visit. As 1UP’s liveblog puts it, “The son in the game says that he thought she (the character Moleneux is playing) was never coming back. The husband comes out and is pissed. He shot the husband! PETER HAS NO SOUL!” Peter explained that there’s no undoing that – the husband is now dead, and as soon as he leaves the region with his character, the child will be sent to an orphanage. He throws around the word “freedom” quite a bit throughout, and you can see that’s really what they’re going for in Fable 2.

In other Fable 2 related news, a few weeks before launch you can expect to see an Xbox Live Arcade game that will allow you to start earning money for use in Fable 2 ahead of time. Interesting idea that will hopefully be free.

Read 1UP’s preview of Fable 2 for a detailed look at Fable 2’s co-op play.
