GC Sony: Sorry No PlayTV for the U.S.A.

Sony has announced a new service for lucky PlayStation 3 and PSP owners in Europe. Sony’s PlayTV will turn the PS3 into a TV tuner/DVR allowing gamers to record one channel while watching another and also remotely transmit video (live or recorded) to the PSP.
David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, was understandably chuffed with the announcement, trumpeting that PlayTV will extend the PS3’s entertainment credentials: “With the introduction of PlayTV’s state of the art TV tuner and PVR functionality, PS3 is now the best choice of home entertainment hub for the whole family.”
Unfortunately it appears a similar service won’t be available in America anytime soon. PlayTV is made possible in Europe by its superior digital terrestrial television coverage and one region-wide satellite TV, BSkyB. Without meeting these standards Sony can’t provide this high-definition content to the US just yet.
This is one of the very few times Europe is getting something game related well before the US.

yes what a rip off. Dont bother with this unless u are in europe. doing some reading the PS3 tuner will use Freeviewtv. Which is only located and avaialable in the UK. http://www.freeview.co.uk/home
This freeview tv is available to anyone in the UK with a digital receiver that is able to pick up this broadcast. so whats the big deal? anyone in the UK with a TV and the right setup can get this for free already, Hence the name Freeview.

It uses DVB-T of which Freeview is simply the UK system. DVB-T is available in Europe, Australia and parts of Asia and S.America. I believe it’s 33 country’s in total.

It basically turns the console into a HD 1080p twin tuner digital recorder that can be remote controlled from anywhere in the world by a PSP.
Its funny/sad/pathetic/predictable the way this is being greeted by a lot of 360 owners.
PS3 owners have really got a great 2008 coming with Home, Playstation Eye and PlayTV all due to be released along with exclusives of 3 of the biggest game franchises in the world (GT5, MGS4 & Final Fantasy).

why do u have to be such a fanboy? u alwayas look through my posts to look for something to criticize. You need to buy yourself an Xbox 360 so you can see what its all about. But as for what goodies the 360 has? ya is ahead of the game. as usual. go read about it, because i wont waste my time telling you something you wont like.
Any one with a 360 knows what it has, and what the PS3 wishes it has. The PS3 is a good system, is which u will never admit for the 360, but Xbox live does circles around PSN, with their content of Movies, TV shows, and ofcourse the 360 will have tv on demand someday soon, And unlike PSN, it will be further than Europe.
I think you dont even own a PS3, from what i read before, so you should atlest get one of them before u criticize the Xbox 360, let alone the PS3. Fanboys are funny.

And you didnt answer his question, what has the 360 got to offer this year apart from GOW2??
