Game as Art Feature

Yes, it is art.
There are so many ways video games can be critiqued as an artform, and it’s something I’ve been saying for years.
So when I came across this feature from GameWad, I was completely jazzed because it is exactly the kind of critique I would love to see more often.
It’s completely understandable to be in love with brilliantly displayed violence and ways in which first-person shooters can allow people to work together as a team, but some role playing and intricate adventure games go so much deeper.
I never really understood the fascination with role playing games until I played Final Fantasy II, which was Final Fantasy IV in Japan, of course, and I realized the game somehow drew me into the storyline so much more effectively than any other game I had played. The way I felt like the characters were so much more a part of me than any others I had taken control of, and real emotions were tied into the outcome of each plot point.
Video games go beyond entertainment. So cheers to you Mr. Inzauto, I enjoyed your critique.
