ageofconan Funcom Gamers Come of Age with ConanFuncom’s Gaute Godager took time out to talk with Next Generation about the developer’s highly anticipated adult MMOG, Age of Conan: Hyborean Adventures. the MMO promises to be more action oriented with a brutal visceral combat system and a storyline tailored to adults. Given that statistics put the average age of an MMO player at 25, Godager isn’t worried about turning away potential subscribers.

People say: “Don’t go too mature – that’s risky; you’ll lose all the 14 year olds.” But there’s not that many! They just make a lot of noise. I hope we can appeal to people who want something more than the pink-dressed elves. If you’ve been dining on McDonalds for four years you might want a bloody juicy steak with red wine, and I think that’s what we’re trying to give the player right there.

Although I’ve stated before that I’m not really into PvP in MMOs, I’m really looking forward to seeing Age of Conan in action. As a father of a miniature clone army of four, I play many video games and board games with my kids. However a mature game would be a not so guilty pleasure I would definitely indulge in.

Hell yes! I’m so sick of all the cutesy, cartoony mmo’s as of late. I don’t want some little half-elf running around in tights…. I want a sexy ass lady, like on the cover art up there^
