The official explanation mentioned that the MK realm is a magic one, so Superman, whose weakness is ALSO magic, shouldn’t have his full powers.

Actually Silver Age supers was pretty untouchable before the end in the John Byrne revamp in the 90’s at the beginning of the current Iron Age of comics. The post-revamp Byrne Supes could barely lift an armored truck, couldn’t fly at the speed of light, etc. but he’s slowly crept back up there in power levels after two or three more revamp attempts.

Golden age Superman yeah, he was pretty much omnipotent. Silver age Superman (ie. modern) not so much.
