forza2 ForzaMotorsport.net Responds To Allegations That Forza 2 Crashes Xbox 360 Units

The Forza 2 forum fiasco caused a lot of widespread discussion concerning problems with Forza 2 and the Xbox 360. One of the issues many people were concerned about was the forums on the subject that seemingly vanished into thin air. I dropped my two cents Forza’s way wondering why this problem suddenly happened and asked them what the real facts are behind the problem. I primarily wanted to know exactly why the forum topic vanished. Here is the response that was emailed to me from Che Chou, the “Community Manager” :

Hi William,

We’ve tested Forza 2 extensively and have confirmed that the game itself does not brick Xbox 360 consoles. Although it might seem like the number of instances is high, especially if you go by forum reactions, it’s actually a very small percentage that it’s happening to and we acknowledge that it’s very frustrating and unfortunate.

As for the forum thread, I moved it to a moderator’s section. It has not been deleted and I can easily prove it. The thread no longer served a real productive purpose other than as an excuse for folks to violate FM.net’s terms of service with ad hominem attacks. Thanks to the thread, we are acutely aware that it is a very real issue with a small percentage of our community (but a problem nonetheless).

There’s also already a pretty good thread in the same forum that tries to discuss the problem in a more productive manner. The bottomline, however, is that this is indeed a hardware issue and not a software issue, and as such, Microsoft already has a comprehensive plan on replacing people’s faulty Xbox 360s.

Thanks,

Che Chou

I would like to thank Che Chou and forzamotorsport.net for sending us this crucial information that shed a little light on the subject. There’s always two sides to every story, and I really felt as if the Forza team needed to get their story out there. Credibility of forum user complaints are often questionable and in this case, it definitely looks like this is an issue Microsoft needs to fix with their hardware. It also looks like a case where numerous individuals may have abused a forum. At least we know they are aware of the issues and working with Microsoft on them.

    shawn,

I never encountered that problem with Forza myself, but you never know. It sounds like more of a problem with your Xbox. Perhaps your Xbox settings are not matched up with the tv settings.

What video settings do you have on your Xbox right now and what kind of tv are we talking about.
