Forza 2 Causes Xbox 360 To Crash?

Reports are all over the place that Forza 2 is causing many Xbox 360 units to crash.  I didn’t have that problem when I played it, but you never know.    I recall having numerous instances of Oblivion crashing my Xbox 360.  The problem was taken care of when I started routinely clearing the Xbox 360 cache.  The only negative aspect to clearing the cache is that all game updates are also cleared out and have to be downloaded again the next time you play the game.   All in all, I have been clearing my cache about every 3 weeks and haven’t had a single crash since I started doing it.  I’m not saying this will fix the Forza problem, but it’s worth a shot.  It seems in the official Forza 2 forums, the tech guys don’t have any real solid answers yet.

To clear your cache, perform the following measure from Team Xbox:

Go to the system blade and then select memory.

thumb hd Forza 2 Causes Xbox 360 To Crash?

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Performing this function will also clear any software updates.

A game can’t destroy a console, why do people not get that? Clearly the console was faulty anyway.

  2. Chad says:

Software updates are stored on the hard drive. You do not need to re-download any game patches simply because you cleared your cache. It would be silly for developers to store game patches in temporary memory.

  3. William says:

If you clear the cache, a download will be necessary for nearly all games. I didn’t make it up. Try it sometime and see.

  4. Chad says:

Wow. That just seems really stupid. I guess it’s not a huge deal since the patches are pretty small; but I wonder why they wouldn’t just make it a permanent file on the hard drive. Sorry for my ignorance.

no problem man.. i didn’t mean to make that statement in a bad way if you took it like that. It doesn’t make sense that clearing the cache does that, but that’s how the system works. I’m not even sure if the files are in the cache or just somehow connected to it.

    @ Jonny bravo

    are you a complete moron?

the coding within the game could be bugged and cause the xbox 360 to “crash”

crash doesnt mean it “broke” the xbox jsut it froze and locked up.

this is common with games on other platforms but with a widespread release of a game it shouldnt be happening. also considering they cannot patch the dvd rom

I was given the game ( Forza 2 collection edition ) by a friend because he told me that it broke his computer, after hearing this i did not really think the game would or could send a 360 to its death. I was at the time happy to take this off him, but really not happy that his xbox 360 broke because he was a friend and
now with out an xbox 360 to play himself.

He did WARN ME not to play it!!!

When getting home i put the game on and fine, played it for around 10 hours over 4 – 5 days, and then it happend
    THE RED LIGHTS OF DEATH!

I have never had a problem with my xbox, that was brought in January 07, was thinking i was one of them lucky few. But maybe i should of listened
to my friend. Now i have just sent my 360 back for repair, they say it will take up to 30 days. Im so gutted what am i going to do for a month!!!
Plus i just brought the wireless network addapter and 12 month gold xbox live, that will have to wait a month now. After reading about all the other people
around the world with there problems about there 360, i just went and brought a fan for when the xbox comes back to me. I feel for all you people who
have had there problems as well. I dont want a playstation 3 and love my xbox 360. Dont even think im going to play the forza 2 when the xbox comes
back just in case, but its a shame beacause its a great game.

Hope my xbox is all fixed in time for Halo 3, so i can open a can of whooop asss on you all!!!!! lol
