Fortune Gives Major Props to the Nintendo Wii

The latest issue of Fortune has an interesting feature about the Wii’s domination of the console market. It delves into some of the strategies Nintendo has employed for their success and analyzes just how popular the console has become. There’s also a supplemental piece that lets you look at the Wiimote’s components, piece by piece. One cool thing shown there is an audio translator chip that is unused at the moment, but can convert human speech into digital data.
The article’s put together well, but the author talks as if the Wii has already won the console war. I personally love the Wii, and I still say it’s too soon to tell. Besides which, it’s hard to really compare Nintendo’s console to Microsoft and Sony’s, since the they clearly have different goals when it comes to making games and drawing in consumers.
