Former LucasArts Staff Reveal Details About Future Games — KOTOR 3, Anyone?

You know what they say about payback, and the now-official LucasArts layoffs has led to Kotaku getting all sorts of email from former LucasArts staff revealing all kinda of details on future games — including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3.
The information claims that, with the layoffs, the company will be left shorthanded with all of the games they have in the works, which include KOTOR 3, which is apparently an MMO being worked on by BioWare, Star Wars Battlefront 3, “The Official Indiana Jones” game, “another LEGO game based on the Indy universe,” and “a lightsaber game for the wii (sorry, no lighsaber peripherals).”
Talk about juicy rumors.
The person also said that the layoffs shouldn’t impact The Force Unleashed or Fracture. The Force Unleashed has “passed approval with SCEA and is ready to ship,” while Fracture, on the other hand, is “an absolute piece of garbage.” Of course, I’d probably hate anything being made by the company that just fired me, so his or her word might not be the best to go on in that regard.

Why does KOTOR 3 have to be an MMO, that basically ruins the game for me, I assume I know why they did it because likely the story will revolve around the true Sith attacking the Republic, though I don’t understand how they are going to create a awesome storyline to end the KOTOR saga.
Same here Fremder. I have no interest in MMOs.
Thank God! I thought I was the only one who thought Kotor 3 being a MMO was a horrible idea.
First off all its a rumor so don’t freak out just yet. I do love the kotor series as I liked that time era of star wars way before kotor came out. Though you shouldn’t automatically act like its a horrible idea. Your basing you judgment on something that hasn’t even been proven officially by LucasArts/Bioware? That just right down dumb.
I for one would hope it is an MMO because maybe finally after all these years there will be an MMO that I would actually look forward to playing. Yes I still have issues with the game. The idea of Thousands of Jedis running around talking like “omg wtf pwn u” annoys me or seeing noobs going “Where r vader?” On top of that I can’t recall bioware every doing any sort of crafting things in their game.
Either if its a single player game or an mmo. As long if there is a Kotor 3 coming out then I am happy..
Well i am looking forward to some new indiana jones games it leaves me wondering as to what kind of non lego indie game they’re working one, and feel bad actually if they
made KOTOR 3 into an MMO , as my first MMO i ever played was Star wars Galaxies, which i eventually stopped playing, my ideal KOTOR 3 would be an awesome single player game, its been years since i played a decent Star wars game (Jedi academy being the last one), either way i cant wait to hear some more details on these games as i have high expectations.
Hey come on guys, an MMO isnt that bad, like it would be fun to do quests or PvP! I look forward to htat, because now you can equip your character to your standards and seee how good they are.
StarWar >> Which is exactly what the past 2 KOTOR games have already done. You don’t HAVE to equip your main character with a light-saber you know.
An mmo Kotor game would be absolutely horrible. There’s enough dodgy, stupid mmo games out there and if they want to make more they don’t have to ruin our beloved series. I seriously think the producers would be in danger of assassination if they made it an mmo, because there’s some pretty hard core fans out there (NOTE: I’m not threatening the producers. I love them they’ve already done heaps for me)
ROCK ON *RPG* Kotor III
pietro>> agree with you all the way. There’s enough mmo’s out there and they can just make more, not in relevance with Kotor.
I’m actually kind of stoked for this to happen. With BioWare running it… a KotOR MMO has a LOT of potential… say… Blizzard-esque potential. KotOR is going to make SWG look like the WoW/EQ clone it really is… because the only thing missing from KotOR as it stands now is a co-op feature, and by going MMO, they’d be doing just that to excess. It’s true that there are a lot of MMO’s out there. But how many good ones? Not very many. So give it a chance before you break out the torch and pitchforks. BioWare is an excellent company, and I think they’d do a great job. Maybe SOE can take their heads out of their rears and learn a thing or two…
But, and this is a big BUT, I don’t think I could take the noobs that would jump on. KotOR will get a hell of a lot of subscribers from SWG (since half the reason anyone plays SWG now is because there are Jedi) and we all know how they are… ugh. That’s my only worry… that I’ll bump into people from SWG and realize exactly why I left.
PLEASE NOT AN MMO. Ok so its safe to say we all love KOTOR maybey even KOTOR 2 (Could have been better) But please not an mmo. We love kotor for its in depth story and chracters the last thing we want is a game that lacks any meaning or substance. That has thousands of Noobs running about questing together. Please single player only With More custermizations and more dark jedi to battle.
Please if any one can think why it should be a mmo then please let me know because i can not think of one reason why.
i do not think that kotor 3 will be an mmo due to all the fans that would leave it. most likely what they will do is have it so you can choose from certain races andit will most likely be based right after kotor 2 or five years after if aything and if they make it an mmo kotor will lose many fans you cn be sure of that
It´s really sad and revolting, and it piss the blood out of me watch theyre ruining allthe joy in this game, by a MMO mindless monetary mode, with nothing more than large and empty scenario with descontextualized gameplayers, carrying names like “blowjob”, or “gangsta”, spoiling the games fantasy for not sharing the same and genuine starwars experience with you
I hope george lucas been satisfied.
what is a MMO?
seriously, an MMO for KotOR is the worst idea i have heard in a long time. As everyone else has said, this amazing storyline (well, KotOR 1 anyways) would be ruined by the masses of noobs saying “omg im gonna pwn u”. now they could always make a single-player mode where you can transfer your character to an mmo mode.
along with many other ideas i’ve heard such as more planets to travel to with less linear plot. and more sidequests!!! heck, y do you have to play as revan or the exile? they could make a whole new character you could play as and you could start as a padawan at the jedi acadamy and one of the first parts of the game would be to find revan.
