Originally released on the Marketplace for Europeans only back in July, the racing and derby demo of FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for those residing the United States and Canada. The demo weighs in at just under 752 MB, and the game hit retail in the US on October 2. The game has met with a fairly positive critical reception in Europe, where the game has been available since June.
Is it the Xbox 360’s answer to MotorStorm? It’s not quite as good looking, but as far as depth goes, it wouldn’t be hard to surpass what MotorStorm has to offer. Give the demo a look and come back and let everyone know what you think.

If anyone actually buys this, they can enjoy Flatout 2 with fancier graphics because that’s all it is, if you already own FO2 then there is no point in buying this, the “Carnage” races just aren’t enough to warrant the full retail price.
Some would argue that FlatOut 2 was nothing more than FlatOut with fancier graphics. And how does this game not look as good as MotorStorm? If the videos are any indication, this looks better than MotorStorm in both clarity and object detail. FlatOut doesn’t depend on excessive use of depth of field blur to make us focus on the small bubble of detail that’s close. Not to mention FlatOut UC’s thousand particle/object rendering and crazy use of physics will probably push the 360 hardware to the max. This game is one big adrenaline rush.
If there were one game that ever gave a half-dead LAN party a pulse, it would be the FlatOut games. Well, maybe Carmageddon deserves honorable mention too.
Flatout 2 had completely different tracks, a ton more cars more ragdoll games compared to the first one, FO:UC however is the exact same game as FO2 but with a few upgrades, it’s really not worth the buy.
I rented it thinking it was a whole new game, took it back after finishing the first two cups and realising it was the same damn game I already owned.
I tried out the demo last night, and all i can see when i am playing this is:
“BURNOUT REVENGE” clone
