Looos like someone is not getting enough fibre
They’re is fun to be had with XI yes, but not enough to keep me hooked, thats my opinion.
Servo had his, you, and the rest of the people have theirs.
Why can’t you give it a rest? Servo probably had a bad experience. You probably had a great one.
I just lost interest. No more text death match mates! Good lord
Opinions are like ass-holes. Everyones got one, and they all smell like shit.
The problem with Servos is it was not a) presented logically, b) presented with sentance structure that doesn’t make me want to learn a different language and give up on english, and c)a complete flame on the game.
You’re free to have opinions on a game, and no ones saying you have to agree that FFXI is fun. But don’t come to a forum and start bashing it telling everyone that the game is dying and garbage. You’re just asking to get “pwned”.
He probably wanted to prevent new players from joining or he may call it “this game blows stay away from it” He does have valid points but he didn’t need to flame a comment section of a article. Like that’s just plane childish! lol
What game is truly perfect I ask you, pretty much none. But some come close. In my opinion XI does lots of things right, and quite a few things wrong. But I am a critic, a do judge games for what they are, and not what they ain’t. My personal score for XI in comparison to most MMO’s of it style from a scale of 1-10, I would give it 7.2 out of 10. But it really depends on the player. I just chose its not worth playing permanently.
But I’m going to stop repeating myself lol
But still it takes two. He started it true, but in doing so, you slam him/her back and he slams you back. You just can’t win. It’s better just to leave those kind of people alone. But thats a -TruthfulNoble-’s opinion
uuuuuhhhhhh i got final fantasy XI wings of the goddess but it wont download
it said i have 2 get final fantasy XI….wat does that mean?????
That means you need the game itself, you my friend have the expansion pack. Hope that helps
i lol’d
some people like to play hard games
and besides..
since when does how long something take to install effect the gameplay in any way
ITs simple.
IF you like to buy a 50~60 dollar game and buy a guide along with it so you can beat it in a few hrs and feel like a pro lol… go buy WOW.
If you like a challenge a strong community of cool ppl, almost and endless amount of content, and you u hate when games end fast after you paid 5 times the cost of movie ticket for it lol. go buy FFXI.
When I play games… I usually start on hard… if your that kind of person you can’t play a game like WOW and feel satisfied at all.
So to each is own.
And btw if you take 2 months to get lvl 24 OMFG you suck and you should quit playing not only FFXI but every video game.
Look… all final fantasys give options for hard core gamers and causual gamers.
FFX for example you can beat in like 72 hrs or so or faster… but getting every thing in the game collecting all the monsters and fighting through the area til you beat nemesis can take literally 200+ hrs. Its the same with all Final fantasys they are not made only for casual gamers but most of the time tailor their games for hard core gamers.
When I accomplish something in FFXI I feel like a winner… when I do it in WOW I feel like meh… that wasn’t so hard.
Its oblivious that Servo had a really bad experience. It could of been his first MMO period. Now if you take that into consideration, FFXI would be very frustrating. Or maybe he spent all his time talking to friends or only wanted to lvl with friends. That can really drain time. And can be equally as hard if you don’t got a clue on how to play or don’t know terminology for everything that ppl expect you too.
I enjoyed it but I really felt like trying other MMOs before settling with FFXI. And to me it really had lots of depth, but its finding that depth and using it right is difficult. But I’ve almost played every MMO worth of mention. WoW was not bad, not really good ether. Having played tons of MMOs, I get what to do instantly. FFXI did take getting used to, I can’t imagine how hard it be to a new MMO player. He could be just used to Phantasy Star Online/Universe. Thats easier then WoW. And on 360. So who knows.
I’d cut Servo some slack but he didn’t need to flame a comment section of a article, thats just immature. But continuing to argue is also pointless eh mates
Yeah I prefer harder games and ones you don’t complete in like a week or something.
Now I need to order my copy
TruthfulNoble is Servo for sure. Just making additional names to back up his opinion
The General Will is against what servo says, which means he is wrong. Even if I agree with servo, most people don’t, therefor I am wrong. Servo obviously did not give the game a chance.
Don’t give me any of this “You slammed me first-hand” crap. Read it and deal with it.
If someone insults you in real life directly, you are going to say “Sorry I won’t respond because you insulted me directly?”.
To hell with that shit.
Sadly Final Fantasy XI online is dying in terms of players. FFXI can say they have 500k or even over that; but, it has been found the game has 200k up to 300k (give or take 100k in between)that are active for 1-3 hours. Even if the game has 500k it still wouldn’t be enough to stretch across 31 or 32 servers. With the game’s masochistic game play, there will be people trying to make it like once you have mastered something it feels like an accomplishment. I find that rather sad. I thought a game was suppose to be for entertainment purposes not to have bragging rights about who’s most masochistic.
Or even a game that utilizes such game play. WOW! Oh my gosh! The big pay off has the same feeling from the start of the game; but, this time you get to upgrade your artifact and even get better gear, weapon and so on, and 5 star resort to end game places and you get to have more people join in too… Give me a Freaking break those players even act as if no one but them should deserve it.
The veteran players aren’t really concerned with helping the new players because they are always on the mad dash to dish the gossip on what hyper notorious monster linkshell wiped during some end game event, comparing e-peened gear, making money and whatever else.
When a new player is struggling because they can’t find 5 other players or more to help them level, do missions and even get artifacts(yes yes, when I played, players said most artifacts were crap). There were even times when players couldn’t get into parties based on gear and people would critique and even boot those players from parties.
When I used to play, there were veterans who would catch an attitude and ready to tell those struggling players to go play World of Warcraft. Like a bunch of dumb asses those players are giving free advertisement to FFXI’s rival and possibly hurting Final Fantasy XI’s possible chance of gaining any more players.
Instead of killing off the FFXI by catching an attitude with players and tell them to go play WoW, offer and actually help those players or just watch FFXI go to a possible grave.
hey, should i buy FFXI (Inc. Chains of Promathiand Rise of the Zilart Expansion Packs)and then FFXI wings of the goddess?
and how much do u hav pay monthly to play FFXI?
I believe it’s $13 or $14 a month. Best bet if you are starting out on PC or PS2 is to buy the Vanadiel collection 2008 as it includes EVERYTHING released so far for FFXI at a reasonable price.
Remember if you are buying for the PS2 you need the Hard Drive, which isn’t all that easy to track down these days. The game will not play on the newer “slim” PS2, only the older larger version _WITH_ a hard drive. And you needed to buy the HD separate.
I believe there is a PC Vanadiel collection also, that is the same thing as the PS2 version. I.e. contains everything in one neat reasonably priced package.
Finally, the game will run on the PS3, but only the 20 & 60GB versions… It will _PARTIALLY_ run on the 80GB version. Word on the street, and this can be fixed at somepoint in software, is that WotG will not run on an 80GB PS3, but the original game, and all expansions _except_ WotG play fine on it. Again, this could be fixed already or very soon with a software patch.
Finally, the 40GB version of the PS3 has no backwards PS2 compatibility at all, so you are SOL if you own one and want to play any PS2 game.
Finally, it does run on xBox360 as well. I’ve never tried it on 360 so I can’t comment.
-Update-
It seems that the Vanadiel 08 collection for PS2 installs/plays fine now on the 80GB PS3.
So to summarize:
Plays on PC. (both XP/Vista)
Plays on 360
Plays on older PS2’s with internal hard drive.
Plays on PS3, 20, 60, 80GB versions.
DOES NOT PLAY ON 40GB PS3
DOES NOT PLAY ON “SLIM” PS2.
$13 a month to play, + $1 a month for each additional (optional) character beyond your main guy that you create. (usually additional characters are called “mules”.)
I played for 2 years before creating a mule. They aren’t needed.
Check what you are buying before you get it, because there are a lot of different versions out there. Best bet is to buy the Vanadiel 08 collection for 360, PC, or PS2 depending on what you use.
I have both the PC and the PS2 version, I can play on either, using a single account (just not at the same time obviously). It’s nice to run my PS2 for most things, but when I’m doing something with snazzy cutscenes I switch to the PC version for added graphical pizazz.
Thank u
hey i just got my FFXI and Wings of the goddess for my pc
i installed and downloaded it and now when i click play to start the game
the whole screen goes black with only a brown and cream cursor and it does nothing. I cant even exit it i have to turn off my computer before i get it off can you tell me why its doing that and how to stop it?
I first played Final Fantasy 3 years ago, I bought it for the PC after I got bored of WoW.
Personally I find FFXI to be the far superior game to WoW. WoW is good for a quick thrill, but it gets old quick. FFXI takes a while to get into but when you do, you will love it. It takes a month to reach maximum level on WoW, 5months of pretty hardcore levelling on FFXI and I still haven’t reached maximum level (highest 66WHM) but it still kicks ass.
i hav lots of problems with playing, the game doesent come up and i checked wat system requirements i need i dont hav NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 or greter i hav NVIDIA GeFirce 5200 FX- do i need it to play the game and do i have to buy a new graphics card or can i download it. Another problem is getting to the main memory of my computer ( how do i do that?)
Also how do i configure FFXI
is that all the problems stopping my FFXI from launching onto full screen so i can make character?
it doesent matter now
i got it to work i just didnt click button lol
ty for help^^ i am now a red mage on kujata server!
I am just gotten FFXI Vana’diel collection 2008 for PC. Now I am waiting for the file updates to complete.
btw when was this edition 2008 launched? It has over 6000 files to update.
hey ive played FFXI for about 2years now. i love it! and i jus been readin all these stupid comments from servo… some one /slap him.
i also enjoy halo3 cause im a maniac an love killing.
but FFXI will always be my favourite. it was the first online game i ever played. its got awesome graphics, awesome characters (im a sexy mithra!) and its fun. who cares if ive delvled more than ive gone up lvls in the last 2months? i will still go back an keep trying. none og this bull crap about quiting! Quiting is for losers…!!!!!
so anyways… dancer is an awesome job hey?!
please this game is still the best i have all my char at 75 and in on my mule lving them to 75 too updates are getting better and getting better fixing the lag. if you dropped this game? you should pick it back up your missing alot….
wow that servo dude is retarded, umm bad ratings…mm dont think so..im pretty sure before WoW ripped elements of FFXI and made it for cheesing fags that like to “hack and slash” FFXI was the number 1 mmo for a few years running.. the graphics are amazing considering when it came out.. if you like rpg’s stick to console if you like MMOrpg’s FFXI is your game….its supposed to be time consuming MMO’s arent meant to be beaten like console games everyone whos played knows that…hence the expansions..i got to 27 on my pally in one day..if you couldnt get over 10 in a few months you are pathetic and should probably not admit to being a gamer at all
