This is disturbing on too many levels to enumerate...

I have been researching mod chips for the sole purpose of being able to run software which would let my roomate and I play movies and Playstation games at higher resolutions and in progressive scan modes which I otherwise could not, making my purchase of the Component Video cable for the PS2 actually worth more. I'm not looking to steal movies or games, just unlock capabilities not currently available.

This is comparable to arresting people who sell high performance racing gear for cars because someone MIGHT break the speed limit on the public roads.

Secondly, what are the I.C.E. doing busting these cats when THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE SNEAKING INTO THE COUNTRY EVERY DAY?? It seems that if you start screwing with the income of big business from either angle, production (cheap labor) or sales (Piracy) than the Feds are your personal lap dog stoolie goons...Just my humble opinion anyways.

Ya this is not good. Let me tell you there is other ways. I live in canada and im sure if i want a mod chip i would get one somehow. What the game system companies should do is like microsofts Xbox live. If u have a mod chip in your system it bans you fron online play. So online gaming is key for the Xbox 360 so only a fool would mod their system and take that chance.

I have known people with older modded systems and with or with out, i still wont spend any more on a game i want. If i have a mod chip in my system id still buy a good game because you get the guarentee it will work correctly. There is even software mods, what about the PSP? no mod chip needed. I beleive if a person owns a system and wants to put in a mod chip why not, they are the one at risk. I have full support for Homebrew software. I know the Xbox has way better homebrew than it ever had as a stand alone machine.

This will only force the modders to get smarter and think of another way. there is always china and other areas to order them, they will just discuise whats in the bag.

But what a waste of good resources, those pigs should be out fighting real crime. not looking in peoples mail for modchips or closing some small home business.

The game system companies need to make more software for their machines and updates. like Divx support for my 360 that would be all i need. Make their systems so good that only a fool would need to mod it.

Big companies and producers need to enforce their copy rights and warranties. I'm sure they have a hand in sending some money to federal law enforcement to see that their patents etc are protected by law. So yeah guilty of someone important has the money to pay like Microsoft etc to slap down illegal activities on their products.

Yeah, I agree.

While it is illegal, the manpower they used here could be used to help stop terror-cells in the United States, or drug dealers, or even pedophiles. Then again, it is the United States.
