FBI: Pedophile Met Intended Victim on WoW

The FBI has foiled a pedophile’s plans to for his intended victim, a mentally-challenged 16-year-old girl he met on World of Warcraft. David Faboo is a 38 year old ex-con who the FBI has classified as a “traveler;” a term used to describe a class of pedophile who travels to meet victims. Blizzard, MySpace, Yahoo and MSN all cooperated with the FBI to bring him in.
When Faboo was apprehended by Oregon State police he was carrying a teddy bear, cell phone, chocolates and a promise ring for the girl. He also had rope, several knives, condoms and sex toys and a make shift bed of plywood in the back of his truck.
Chief Dan Boon of the girl’s hometown Wheatland, California told the Sacramento Bee:
We can’t emphasize enough that parents really be aware where their child is spending time on the Internet. If you’re not, this kind of thing can happen.
Unfortunately, this is advice that many parents tend to ignore because it could never happen to their child. I’ve got news for you; this applies to adults as well. Believe it or not, other people can lie online just as easily as you can. MMOs and social networking sites are perfect hunting grounds for predators; so unless you know someone in real life, play it safe with your personal information.

So you really had to post this… Every time I see something like this, I become furious. I’m not normally violent but when I hear about pedophiles/rapers, I want to murder them and torture them. All of them. I want to shed their blood. Oceans of blood.
I have to play violent games for like 3 days before this fury goes away…..
Sorry Plz Die.. it’s important to cover things like this so people become wary of the threats out there.. it pisses me off as well as someone who has 4 kids all of whom are pretty comfortable with computers and the Internet.

Working in the IT industry gives me a window into the Internet universe. My kids are absolutely going to hate me when they get old enough to surf the web by themselves. I will have Internet Content Filters set up on my firewall that will keep them from going anywhere that I don’t want them to.
And before someone says, well they’ll just go to a friends house and get on the Intenet I have a solution to that as well and it is called educating my children about what is right and what is wrong on the Internet and in the world in general.
