Honestly, I’m amazed there are 1.3 Billion of us online now.

And building a $100 laptop realistically shouldn’t be difficult at all. Just aim for 1995 or 96 era technology, Implement heavy usage of prebuilt used hardware recycled into the laptops, and have donation drives for out of date hardware.

That’s besides the fact that internet is nowhere NEAR as valuable as first literacy and economic prosperity. There’s also the logistical problem of introducing billions of non-english speaking people to a vastly predominant english internet. You can hardly set up new websites and communities in your local native language based on $100 laptops.
