Fallout 3: All Versions Gold With Minimum and Recommended Specs for PC Announced

Bethesda announced today that Fallout 3, has gone gold for all formats and will be arriving on store shelves and online October 28 in North America, October 30 in Europe and Australia, and just in time for trick or treat on October 31 in the UK.

At lot of attention has been given to the DLC for the game, what with only the PC and Xbox 360 versions expected to get downloadable goodies in the future, and in the long run that may deter people from purchasing the PS3 version. However, considering the the fact that Fallout 3 is going to be hundreds of hours long, that may be enough to pacify some gamers.

Additionally, Bethesda has revealed the PC specs for their highly anticipated post-apocalyptic RPG. The required specs are pretty standard and even the recommended specs aren’t all that onerous because dual core is pretty much ubiquitous these days; therefore, anyone who wants the game for the PC should have no issues installing and running it. Plus, Pete Hines himself states that the dev team’s goal was for the game to run at 30 frames a second, which means that even your local library’s PC will be able to hang with the rest.

  • 1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
  • 2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

  3. wow says:

idk but im sure he was exaggerating about the whole “100ds of hours” long part

  4. Steve says:

A leaked review copy of FO3 for the 360 has already hit the piracy channels. A hot topic of debate right now (considering the game *just* went gold).

    I’d say release is imminent…

wah wah what .. its not going to be 100 hours .. Oblivion didnt even take THAT long .. lol.

  6. Stephany says:

I played Oblivion for over 300 hours. The reason, is because I wanted to explore every single nook and cranny and top out all of my traits. I am not one of those who play through everything as fast as I can, sometimes it is just fun to explore and get the full experience of the world a developer has created.

I hope the minimum “2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor” doesn’t really mean “hyperthreading required”.

I went through that snafu with the Mercenaries 2 for PC. Turns out Mercs 2 doesn’t work on Athlon XP or anything resembling a single core.

    @Steve

Well I think your problem was trying to game with an Atlon :O

I can run Bioshock on really good options on Dx10 mode on my consumer-model HP laptop. hopefully i can run Fallout on it as well. a demo really would be nice. in fact it should be law that all PC games have at least some sort of demo, however limited.

  9. Drahkar says:

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised at the 100 of hours of content. Oblivion actually did have close to that in content. You could just choose to ignore most of it. And if you did that you could finish it very quickly. That doesn’t mean the content isn’t there, just that you chose to skip it.

I’m just saying that if you’ve ever played fallout 1 or 2 you’d realize that hundreds of hours of play time isn’t that crazy. you can do just about anything in the games.

OMG I can hardly wait. Fallout 3 is going to totally ROCK!

In my opinion Fallout 3 will be the best game that’s hit the shelves in a long time, But what i don’t understand is why people are moaning about it? There has never been a game like this before
