Excellent: NPD Changes Its Mind, Numbers Still Coming

Last week the controversial news came out that NPD Group would no longer be sharing its monthly sales figures with the media anymore. As someone who loves dissection those numbers, I was especially disappointed. A response from NPD expressed surprise but didn’t suggest they were going to change their decision.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending upon how you look at it), they’ve ultimately decided to change their mind. David Riley of NPD stated, “Honestly, it was terribly naive of me to think that we could simply stop providing these after giving them freely for a year.”
According to Riley, nothing will change about the way numbers are shared will change; we’ll get the same information we’ve become accustomed to over the past year. So worry not, you can continue to look forward to my monthly NPD analysis each and every month.
