European PS3 Sales Cause Shortfalls in US Supply

Well, Sony reported a 2% rise in PS3 sales last month. However, they also admitted that due to the Euro launch of the PS3, they, “continued to find ourselves supply constrained in March due primarily to the shift in manufacturing focus to the PS3 PAL version to support the launch of the system in Europe.” While it’s bad news for US gamers waiting to get their hands on the console, it’s hard to believe Sony cares much. The PS3 was the only next-gen console to show a rise in sales last month, and the PS2 continues to outsell ALL of the next-gen consoles. Much like the ‘free TV’s to Euro PS3 buyers’ fiasco, this seems to be yet another reminder that hype = sales = Sony’s Focus. The lack of stock here will most likely only drive sales higher once they do become available.
