Europe Not Getting Super Smash Bros. Brawl Until June 2008

super smash bros brawl

Bad news for our European brethren – the Wii title Super Smash Bros. Brawl will not be available in Europe until after June 2008. When Nintendo released their update schedule this morning, many noticed that the highly anticipated title was missing from the list while other high-profile games were still included.

To find out what was going on, Nintendo was contacted by VideoGamer.com and the news was indeed grim for Nintendo fans eager to get their hands on the title. According to a Nintendo spokesperson, SSBB won’t hit Europe until after Q2 while the Japanese market gets it on January 24, and the US will see it on shelves February 10, 2008. If you do the math, this means that Europe won’t be seeing SSBB for 158 days after its Japanese release, and 141 days after its US release. Ouch.

Nintendo is making a habit of this as of late, and it is only fair that European gamers get the same treatment as other markets. It is not as if the European market is not a lucrative one, and if it all boils down to format conversions, Nintendo has the resources to combat this at any given moment. So what’s the deal Nintendo? Give the gamers what they really want – it is not fair to make them wait.

    if they could make more money sooner im shure they would….its not like there just sitting there thinking you know what….i just dont think that we should take the eourapeans money just yet we are just going to sit here and not make as much money as we could….its probably production delays for your natinal codec version of the game….im shure you know all about nintendo and production *cough* wii,s sold out everywhere *cough*

  5. Richard says:

    oh btw eourop dosent pump as much money into the ecomomy as the US and japan do so…there for overall less money for nintendo in the long run…its not like your money isent impertant to them they just would make less money if they focused more attention on making games for you guys and the us and and japan instead of making more japan and us versions and holding of a little longer on the euorepian version…that clear enough for you guys?

    LMMFGDAO @ Europe, that sux 4 all of u, i live in USA nd i have to wait just a month, id hate to live out there, but the reason why we had to wait a month is because it was suppose to release on Febuary 10th, which was 25 days from now, but they pushed it further to March 9th…its kool cuz Captain Olimar got added, plus his stage :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

    And alas, We, the Europeans, are once again at the bottom of the fucking release date barrel. I’m just waiting for NoE to turn around and say “Stop complaining, you get MKWii before USA and Australia,” at which point it’s best to turn around and say “Well if you can translate MKWii so quickly, why not do the fucking same for SSBB?” All of this Europe getting the games way after everyone else is really beginning to piss me off. We had to wait nearly 2 DAMN YEARS just to get Animal Crossing, probably because they went and thought it wouldn’t sell. Then when it did release, it apparently didn’t sell. But this wasn’t because it didn’t appeal to people, it’s because everyone got fed up of waiting and decided to import instead. NoE don’t really have that many valid reasons for making us wait so long apart from censoring, coding for PAL and translating, and even then that should take about a month tops. If America can translate and censor games so damn quickly, why the hell can’t Europe? The English versions are basically finished, all thats left to do is edit it so that it’s PAL-coded for countries in Europe with English games. But no, NoE probably feel like doing it from scratch, or just not doing it for 4 odd months. I really don’t mean to seem rude or stupid or unknowledgeable, but I really do think that European gamers don’t get treated that fairly. We always seem to be at the bottom, and its been that way for too long. :sad:

    I don’t understand. The difference between the release dates of Mario Kart Wii is only of a couple of days (JP April 10, 2008[1]; EU April 11, 2008;
    AUS April 24, 2008, USA April 27, 2008), while Brawl will be released with a difference of months!

    I wonder why, sucks tho

    Don’t worry guys SSBB is coming out soon 1 mouth and 2 days to go. I went to a shop in Bedford,(UK) called Closeincounters and they had the game but it was american it came with a freeloader but the price was outrageous £50.00. So I’m waiting still can’t wait to play as Lucario his attacks look sweet even his final smash has a cool name “Aura Storm”. When I get the game I hope we will meet on Wi-Fi and have a BRAWL MATCH.
