reno 911 Europe Gets XBL Video Marketplace December 11

North Americans have been enjoying the Xbox Live Video Marketplace for quite some time now while Europeans waited in the dark for something more than an assurance that it was coming. Well, they won’t be waiting much longer – next week the Video Marketplace will launch in Europe.

Movies will cost 250 Microsoft Points for the standard def version, and 380 Microsoft Points for high def. (That’s GBP 2.13 / EUR 2.91 and GBP 3.23 / EUR 4.42, respectively.) Movies are only watchable within 14 days of downloading it, or 24 hours after you first start watching it.

The launch movies include 300, all three Matrix movies, Ocean’s Eleven, The Fugitive and more, although the release list might change by next week.

As far as television goes, Microsoft hasn’t been what you would call “forthcoming” about the matter. Hopefully for our friends over the pond, there will be plenty of TV content released, as Microsoft only knows how much I enjoy plunking down for a few bucks for an episode of Reno 911.

I would’ve assumed Microsoft would’ve released it in Europe long ago, because it’s just lost profits.
