ESRB Signage for Indie Stores

In an attempt to curb the sale of mature games to those under 17, the ESRB is sending out sign packages that explain their possibly confusing rating system to independent and small chain retailers across the United States.

According to an article at Daily Tech, “Despite the clearly marked ratings on the front of every game box, some parents are still unaware of how they can use these ratings to make responsible decisions when purchasing.” The ESRB itself is also campaigning in an attempt to “increase awareness and use of the rating system so that parents can make informed computer and video game purchase decisions.”

Included in the packages are five removable signage components, shelf strips explaining the ratings, store policy signs and tent cards that warn buyers of the store’s policy against selling or renting M-rated games to customers under 17.

These are sure to be the bane of teens in the coming months.
