It won’t, and neither will any of Epic’s older titles. The only reason these Epic games are on Steam is because Midway owns the publishing rights to them, and it signed a deal with Valve to offer them on Steam.

It’s cheaper to buy UT3 (~$30) plus the Unreal Anthology (~$15) retail SKU’s which include the full versions of all of those games plus an extra soundtrack CD. In addition the retail versions of the games are unencumbered by Steam’s additional DRM/copy-protection. Steam is nothing but a tenuous subscription service (read the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Valve’s other policies), and therefore the games it offers should be significantly less expensive than the retail releases of the same games since Steam’s games aren’t permanent, unrestricted, standalone copies with full functionality which can’t be terminated by Valve.

And here you got my hopes up that it would be the early Epic games. You know, like Jill of the Jungle. And Epic Pinball. And… whatever that other game was.

Very cool. Unfortunately I already own UT99 GOTY, Unreal 2, Gold, 2003 (which is absent from Steam, which I find funny), and 2004. And as I’ve written many times in the past on GT, UT3 just doesn’t interest me.

For $54, though, that’s a phenomenal deal and a must buy if you don’t have any UT games.

Microsoft owns the rights to Gears Of War so it won’t be on steam.
