ELSPA Denies Issuing DS Piracy Report

A spokesperson for the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association has stated that the quote recently issued by John Hillier, claiming that 90% of DS owners in North America are pirates, was falsely attributed.
“In America it’s thought 90 per cent of Nintendo DS users are playing pirated games because of R4s,” the purported quote of John Hillier read in The Sunday Post.
However, a spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz that, “[John] didn’t quote The Sunday Post on any figures whatsoever,” and that “ELSPA would certainly never presume to comment about America or anywhere else outside of the UK.”
The quote apparently comes from a website in Singapore, and is apparently where The Sunday Post found the quest before (perhaps under the influence of tequila) claiming it to be something John Hillier said.
So, it turns out my unscientific method of saying that ELSPA was completely wrong has been proven correct, because “as far as Nintendo are concerned, the facts are completely spurious.”
Not that it took much thought to determine 90% was far too high.

Don’t mind me … I got to go buy a DS now
