Won't change a thing for me as a reviewer for any of the publications I write for. Being part of mainstream press as well as Filefront means I have certain protections because of the ethics of the management I work with.

I've given EA games bad reviews before, I've given Eidos bad reviews before.. maybe the difference comes from the fact that at least in the print side my income does not get generated by video game companies but general advertisers. Then again no one really reads any of my stuff as authoritative because I don't write for IGN or CNet or Kotaku.. which is a sad statement on the industry and gamers as a whole. Not because my content is that good that it should be held up as gospel, but because gamers continue to flock to these sites and disdain anyone outside that system a lot of the time.

Present company excluded of course.

Dear God ppl.

"I saw when this started breaking late last night, and the Eidos forums were just a bunch of spam threads containing graphic disturbing images"

Yes, yes and yes.... the spam and stupidity needed to be deleted on the Eidos forums- but further fuel should not be added to the fire and get the panties belonging to fanboys even more in a twist than they already are. That is exactly what deleting certain threads have done and until someone comes along and puts all of the rumors and finger pointing to rest it will continue to spiral out of control like most things on the net do.

When we all finally find out IF... I repeat IF... he was fired because of giving the game a bad review, it will send waves of fright through reviewers who will then presume that they need to be careful because if you give the latest EA game (for example) a bad review you will get axed because they will no longer give the company you work for advertisement money.

But like I said in my post, "Until official word surfaces regarding the actual events that transpired over this unfortunate situation, we will all just have to sit and wait".

LOL yeah also if he left on his own why remove the review? A review from a former employee is as good as a review from a current one. He got railed and we all know it.

Stephany: I disagree, Eidos did the responsible thing by containing the hate here.. the facts are not clear in the public.. people are being reactionary. I also think it is wrong to take a side until you know what happened. People should be interested in the facts and not to act like a bunch of Internet fanboys and start flame wars or boycots without the facts.. which a lot of people are not doing. All I see are assumptions and accusations.

It does not make Eidos more or less guilty if the facts bear out they had an impact on his termination.. CNet bears that responsibility.. and Jeff himself if he did something to violate the company policy that led to his firing. I also think it interesting that the video review is far more negative than his print version.. but who knows why that might be.

If nothing else Kane & Lynch just got more attention because of this - Good or Bad.

Really, Eidos needed to delete all those threads. I saw when this started breaking late last night, and the eidos forums were just a bunch of spam threads containing graphic disturbing images (fortunately I only saw one, and that one was apparently one of the better ones). Seriously disturbing stuff (NSFW? It's a term I hadn't heard of until last night, but apparently that's what it's called. Not Safe For Work? That stuff wasn't safe for any situation).

"You can't blame Eidos for deleting derogatory posts on their own forums, especially if they feel they had nothing to do with the situation. When you post on any forum, you basically agree that your content is no longer yours, and the owners of that forum can do as they like with it."

I agree that once you post a comment that it is no longer yours, and I also agree that they have every right to do whatever they wish with their forums. However, deleting all of the threads, etc just makes them look guilty. The professional thing would have been to post an announcement, tell the folks to take their blabber elsewhere, and then lock the thread. Otherwise, you take the risk that any future traffic to your site from the posters and their buddies will cease to exist and that is the last thing Eidos needs right now - especially if they are indeed guilty of acting like irate toddlers.

@Chad28 - We here at Gaming Today have little to no control over the ads you see here. They are network wide.

@the topic in general: No one really knows what happened yet. Maybe he left of his own accord, maybe he was fired. Maybe Eidos had something to do with it, and maybe they didn't.

Rampant speculation means nothing. While we can report on the fact that there is a controversy on the subject, anyone reading this report should realize that there are no facts to support any conclusion yet. Perhaps we'll hear more details in the future, and maybe we won't.

Wow.. I am a die hard Hitman fan, and I have always liked Eidos, but this is just too ridiculous.
Now we will start seeing more games given scores based on the amount of money the company puts into the site, instead of rating it on its actual content.
Good game Eidos, way to piss and moan like little babies because your game turned out like complete crap.
I for one will never be purchasing another Eidos game ever, and I have now banned Gamespot..
I hope it was worth losing all this business you whiny little babies.
Spend less time persecuting people that give fair reviews, and more time building a game that doesn't suck..

Anybody who still wants this PLEASE buy it USED dont support this kind of behavior dont give this company money i dont support the used games industry but its better than giving money to a corrupt company who's now worse than EB/Gamestop or EA in my book.

Im a little upset that this site is still running kane and suck ads, but i undersand you need to pay your bills.
Im boycotting all c-net network sites, cancelled my podcast/gamespot subscrition and i will never buy any game ever released by Edios or any other company that wants to pull this sh*t.
I think c-net and gamespot should have stuck by there employie's an shouldnt have bowed down to the almighty dollar, Eidos and c-net your not very good companys as it is an i hope this make you go out of business.

I agree with Jeff. 3rd person shooters are just kinda stupid to begin with. The only one so far this year that has been worth a damn was Lost Planet. But that aside. They should just change this to a FPS and it would be alot better. People say they like to be able to see there charater while they play but once you see it, it gets old in about an hour after you see all the scripted moves he can do. Then it just gets on your nerves.
