For a while there have been rumors that Echoes of Faydwer was headed to the PS3. Representatives for Sony Online Entertainment have confirmed that the Everquest II expansion will not be headed to Sony’s console. Sony has mentioned that several MMORPGs are being developed including a DC Universe MMO scheduled to be released this fall, but have not released many specifics on the titles.

Everquest II: Echoes of Faydwer is the most recent expansion pack from Sony Online Entertainment, released in conjunction with live update #29 on November 14, 2006.

The Echoes of Faydwer introduced a new playable race (the Fae), the ability for Player Characters to equip visible cloaks and add symbols, 24 new subclass specific achievement trees, two new secondary tradeskill professions, and the return of the Gods to the mortal realm. It also introduced a new starting city, the tree city of Kelethin, along with new overland, dungeon, instance and raid zones. There are zones for all levels of characters in this expansion.

The level cap has not been increased. There are 50 new achievement points to gain, bringing the total number of achievement points to 100. The guild level has been increased to 60 and they also brought out 6 new HQs and new races to combat like the clockworks, kobolds and bugbears.

The boxed retail edition of Echoes of Faydwer includes the base game plus the first two expansions: Desert of Flames and Kingdom of Sky.
