ECA Contest: Submit Videos for the YouTube Republican Debate

The Entertainment Consumers Association’s (ECA) is encouraging gamers to submit videos “pertaining to game consumer rights” to the CNN / YouTube Republican debate scheduled for Sept. 17. Aside from snagging a t-shirt from the ECA, there are many good reasons to make a video supporting gamers’ rights. The opposition has already started submitting theirs, so it’s time to get it in gear and make some videos.
Joystiq has an excellent article on why you should contribute to this debate and how you should go about doing it with style. You should read up on the issues and decide on where you stand on them and there is no better source on the internet for reviewing the gaming related legislation and politics than GamePolitics.
Most importantly, remember who your audience is. You are appealing to a group of politicians who most likely have had little to no experience with gaming other than what they have been told by the media and outspoken opponents of video games. Your question must provoke thought, but also educate these men and women if it is to further gamers’ interests.
The article also suggests projecting an appearance that these politicians will view as respectable. You will have one chance to impress your audience. Appearances are everything in first impressions, especially when you only have 30 seconds to frame your question and make your point.
Don’t let people like JT be the only voices heard. Contribute your video to the CNN / YouTube Republican debate, and each and every following debate. Let your voice be heard.
