Nintendo Wii

The retarded Nintendo Wii eBay auctions continue. This time, an eBay seller in the U.K. is selling a Wii for US$1,983,298. Fortunately, if you purchase the item for this price, the shipping is tossed in for no extra charge. This is an obvious joke, but points out a really serious problem we have in the gaming world with the Wii craze. Consumers really need to start having a little more self-respect and stop paying insanely high prices for a console that retails for $250. Until people stop paying insanely high prices, we will continue to have issues with stores not having them on shelves.

    i think:
Until stores stop having issues with not having wiis on the shelves, people will pay insanely high prices.

I doubt it works the other way around – why should there magically appear wiis on store shelfs just because every wii auction stops at the retail price ? There are still too many potential buyers out there you know. Bothers me too though, i guess i have to wait quite a while until the retail price gets lower.

well..when it comes to some stores not having them on shelves, there are reasons behind it outside of corporate control. I personally know some people who sell Wiis on eBay and they have deals with shipping/receiving clerks at major retailers such as Best Buy, GameStop and Wal-Mart to get their hands on stacks of Wiis before they ever even hit the shelves. It sucks that this is happening, but it’s because people will pay whatever they have to keep up with everyone else. The other thing that sucks is that a lot of people buying the Wiis end up never playing them after a couple weeks.

As long as people are willing to pay excessive prices for these consoles, there will be just as many shady people who are going to make deals like the one I mentioned above.

I agree with the article, i don’t know how people can pay so much money for a 250 console   please have some self respect…

  6. SpiralGray says:

Another vote for the sentiments expressed in the article. People are idiots for paying more than retail for anything. Why? Because little Johnny is screaming that that is what he wants for Christmas? Tell Johnny to get over it, he’s going to be disappointed a lot in life, he might as well get used to it.

The sad part is its not even worth the $250…

  8. Shran says:

Really? Can develop, mass-produce, and ship your own console and sell it for less?

  9. havoc of smeg says:

i’ll laugh if some dipstick actually pays anything over £250.

ok, about this ba***ks with “no wWii’s on the shelvs” well, lemmie simplfy it for you, take Game for instance… they get givven 45 Wii consols in UK… when there all sold – because spoilt lil brats no doubt – ya can buy then any were else but on eBay or Amazon… i found… the best way to get ya games consols… is not to buy there as soon as they come onto the shelvs… wait say… a yr and half… a) the price will have droped… and b) there will be more consols on the slevs… i mean… take the xbox… i waited right up till 2006 to buy one… and i picked one up with like 20 games for £100 so… it pays to wait a while

  11. Oh Well says:

I had a wii when they first came out. Last year the prices on ebay and craigslist were rediculous, and they are rediculous this years. Anyways i was robbed, and my wii was stolen, so no wii for me. I wanted to get another one, but its just not worth it right now. I cant believe people. People selling them for

“Brand New wii! UnOpened $400!Comes with 5 sports games!”

What really irritates me is the fact that they try and trick people into thinking that the wii sports disk counts as 5 games. Its only one game. Oh well.

    Ill wait.

    Now that…..is expensive.

Self-respect has nothing to do with spending more than one needs to, look at Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES…book and box in good condition will run you about $80.00…while this might not be worth it to you, it may be to somebody else.

Children as well as adults want to purchase a Wii, and at this point there willing to pay that extra amount….obviously not the amount this person was asking naturally but still.

Frankly this type of spending has been going on since the 90’s and it’s not going to stop, people were spending several hundred dollars on Mario64, memory cards for the PS2 were next to impossible to obtain when the system first came out.
