EA’s SKATE Demo Delayed

Demos here, demos there, demos everywhere. Eternal Sonata, Stranglehold, and Bioshock, the recent releases of these incredible demos have sent my seasonal expectations into overdrive. What would make these last couple of weeks complete? How about the SKATE demo from EA? Sure, why not?
Well, looks like we may have to wait another week. EA has just announced that they are going to miss their SKATE demo expected release of 8/15, (On Xbox Live, no current date for PS3 demo) using the extra development time to work out some of the kinks. What kinks you ask? Well, here’s the official word from the EA spokesperson.
“We are trying something completely new for an Xbox Marketplace demo in allowing people to play the game and upload footage they take in-game to our Skate website. The skate.reel video upload functionality is much more technically complex than a standard offline demo, and the number of moving parts have resulted in undue & hard-to-predict delays.”
You can make online skate videos with the DEMO? Cripes, kiss my social life goodbye. Luckily for us, the word from the official forums is that the expected delay should not last more than a week.

PC is the best format. You can use a gamepad on it as well and you don’t HAVE to pay for some kind of Live package to play online with all of the features.

I got a Gateway, Dual-Core 3.1Ghz, 2 Gigs RAM for $600 at Tiger Direct. They were also doing blow-outs on video cards at TD, so I got a handy little PCI-E ATI 256MB that isn’t top-end but runs anything (save for Crysis) pretty nicely for about $150.
And the last time I checked you can hook your 360 UP to your PC, running Live w/ Messenger in the background? Yep you rock.

@zack, the ps3 can run messenger via web based apps, and you certaintly found a good deal on a pc, but you mention it right there in you post, crysis, that is the game to have, and if your pc can’t handle it then its not that good a pc, mine can and it cost me a pretty penny, much more than 1000 dollars, and the ps3 can also link to a pc, just so you know

I have been waiting for this demo for like 2 weeks and it sucks to hear its being delayed but ill live with it becuase by the looks of this game i can wait…
and those people out there that are saying ps3 is good…..your dumb maybe the only reason its free online is because sony online blows balls and loading is a lot longer then the 360
y has this turned into a debate over which console (or pc) is the best?? THIS IS ABOUT DELAYING AN AWESOME GAME THAT WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR. i could care less about the online in a demo, i jus wanna play the game

ea has been known for messing up potentially good games in the past and ever since i heard of this demo i’ve had this phobia that they would do the same for skateboarding. i think the first signs of idiocy are starting to show from ea’s part. just post the damn demo (for ps3 too plz) who cares about skate reel for now we just wanna feel the controls. plz put it up soon and don’t f**k it ea. PS3 is a really good system.. the games are better like the are bigger because they use Blue Ray Disc and not DVD disc like the 360. and Online is free *BONUS* But the PS3 doesnt have that many games so everybody thinks it sucks because of that

lol @ all pc haters.. i personally own 360 and ps3 and i still prefer my pc over both…. a pc can be upgraded over time to expand with growing graphics applications and for about 1/4 of the price it would cost to buy a new system everytime graphics get more advanced and consoles become obsolete leaving you with a pointless system that can no longer play the newest games which will eventually end up sitting in your closet or you end up trading it in and getting 40$ for it. I still love playing console games but theres definately no competition between pcs and consoles.. end of story

Everyone is getting upset XBox is better that PS3.
1. Halo 3 WILL be beaten by Warhawk, it’s like a Halox10. There’s just way much more than just ground vehicles. Check it out.
2. BlueRay. Duh. BR Discs hold WAYYY More memory to upload game graphics. At least compared to HDDVD discs.
3. PS3 is future proof. Microsoft will be scrambling when they realize that they’ll need BlueRay to keep up with the graphics, yeah PS3’s were known to overheat, but only if you’re stupid enough to leave it in a small space. I talked to a guy that used Folding@Home.com on his PS3 (you don’t need to know what it is)and that runs the PS3 at 100% ALL THE TIME. He’s had it running since December, still no problem. So PS3’s were built to last.
4. Games. Yeah PS3 doesn’t have that many out… yet… Thanks to Warhawk and Lair and MANY more that will come out, PS3 will have plenty of games soon. Plus, you probably forgot that the 360 came out about a year before the PS3.
That just shows you the PS3 is better. And when the original XBox came out after the PS2, and BEFORE the PS3, how couldn’t Sony be doing well.
Enough of this ranting. You’ve probably figured out I have a PS3 by now. As, for SKATE. It will, dare I say, “OWN” No matter what console, it will look great AND perform great. I wish there was a demo for PS3 though. But no matter what, I’m getting Tony Hawk first. It’s not a simulator, and that’s probably why I’m not getting SKATE first. I need a story too.
But hey? We’ll see which comes up on top. Either way, both will be great.
