EA VP Talks About Acquiring Ubisoft

Bing Gordon, the chief creative officer and an executive VP at Electronic Arts, was recently interviewed by Gamasutra. Everyone knows that EA’s looked on Ubi with lusting eyes, especially since they acquiring a 20% share of the company a few years back. In that interview, Gordon was asked about the possibility of EA acquiring Ubisoft.
“I think everybody is for sale. I think in general, successful intellectual properties in all media are undervalued, especially in our media. There’s been a lot of acquisitions, but the thing about acquisitions is that the only time it works is if you’ve got an intellectual property that can succeed without the people, or if the people have a ten-year career path that they’re interested in at EA.”
So, it sounds like any EA acquisition would be at the very least semi-hostile. Luckily, the next question covered that as well, and Gordon replied,
“If you do an acquisition, you have to think about whether the intellectual property can succeed without the people, or if the important people want to get promoted in a big organization.”
So, will we see EA make a move to acquire Ubi? Only time will tell.

Please EA leave Ubisoft alone,My current video game library consists mainly of Ubisoft games. I feel that they(Ubisoft)is the only company that is putting out quality games, excellent graphics, quality gameplay etc etc. I just get this awful feeling that its going to turn out like the activision acquiring infinity ward deal. The crap that has been pumping out of that studio lately has turned me off from the call of duty series. Now i rent first and have lost the got to have it mentallity. Now dont get me wrong Ea makes some excellent games of there own(Battlefield 2),but i think joining 2 great studios like these would create some great mishmash of ideas that never truly deliver on the premise of great gaming.Sorry i just get this uneasy feeling of this new age of gaming turning in to a bland rehash of stuff we have already tried. P.S when can we see some more stuff on Bad Company the target video we saw looks promising,i would like to see some in-game stuff. Thanks

EA. I hate the company. and a few times, I love it. But I’d rather see it gone than risk it devouring the last few quality companys out there, and turning them into second rate money makers. I hope EA eventually reaches the monopoly status, and gets destroyed.
The assimilation of Ubisoft would be at the very least insulting, at the worst,
I can’t describe…
I hope EA strategy this time around is quality games that make a lot of money instead of ruining IP’S as quick as they can.
All companies just need to follow in Blizzards path.
not everyone can follow blizzard’s path. It is too risky to develop a game over few years. who knows if it will be a flip or flop?
