In EA’s latest financial reports they have listed how much each of the gaming systems and handhelds have contributed to their overall sales along with certain retailers. GameStop stores are EA’s largest sources of revenue, with 13% of total company sales and Wal-Mart provided 11% of EA’s revenue – both stores provided this much needed income over the past six months. The GameStop numbers are down 1% from last year and the Wal-Mart figures are down 2% – these numbers are compared to the same time period during 2006.
As for platform sales for July through September 30th, you can see that the Xbox 360 was tops in the console line, with the Nintendo DS beating out not only the PSP but the PS3 as well.
Xbox 360 – $218 million
PS2 – $73 million
Nintendo Wii – $59 million
Nintendo DS – $47 million
PSP – $21 million
PS3- $17 million
Lots of numbers, lots of ups and downs and lots of arguing to ensue among fans of each system I am sure. If you want to add more numbers to the ones already floating around in your brain – head on over to Gamasutra and get the European Market numbers as well – you can even see the contrast when compared to the US Markets.
God I hate math.
