EA Developing Hasbro Games, G.I. Joe Included

A number of sources are apparently indicating that EA is set to develop a video game based on the upcoming G.I. Joe movie. The world’s second largest video game publisher inked a deal with Hasbro last year, allowing them publishing rights to numerous Hasbro properties, including the “Littlest Pet Shop” franchise, Nerf, Scrabble, Monopoly, Yahtzee, and Trivial Pursuit: all of which have games slated for release this year. All of these properties will be developed under EA’s casual gaming wing; G.I. Joe however, will not. So, basically we’ve got a G.I. Joe game to look forward to (or dread). Just how good can a game based on a movie based on a toy line be? Guess we’ll find out in 2009. For now though, I’m going to have the theme song from the cartoon stuck in my head all day.

they’d better be going old school.
if they do that GI Joe extreme crap I’m going to throw our news manager out the window.
I am so excited for the Gi Joe video game. I grew up watching the cartoons and am currently passing all of my GI Joes down to my son. I even have the the SGT Slaughter figure that you had to mail away cereal coupons to get. I would love to see the game designed like the Gauntlet series or Star Wars battlefront anything else would ruin it for me.
