EA Announces that Dead Space has Gone Gold; UK Gamers Get Special Pre order Incentives

Electronic Arts gave us some good news today in the form of a press release stating that the highly anticipated Dead Space has gone gold, and is being processed in a factory as we speak. The “survival horror in space” game has definitely been one to keep an eye on since the announcement of it way back in 2007, and hopefully our long wait will pay off with some blood chilling sequences, hard core gameplay and the prerequisite “what was that noise” feeling you will get when night falls.

On top of this good news, EA also let slip that gamers in the UK who pre-order the game for the PS3 and XBox 360 will get a special treat: a platform specific suit in the form of downloadable content within the first two weeks of launch. That is just a shade better than the limited edition 97-page art book you get when you pre-order it from GameStop here in the States. Not that an art book is not cool per say, but a special suit that you can brag about to pals who did not get it is even better.

Using the codes UK gamers obtain when pre-ordering, Xbox 360 users will be able to download an Xbox-themed “Elite Suit” via Xbox LIVE, while PS3 users will be able to download the “Obsidian Suit” via PSN. No matter which console you prefer, each suit promises extra toughness, new looks and inventory slots to help your character Isaac Clarke fix the communications systems on the ship while he fights for his survival in a harrowing atmosphere of death and dread.

Dead Space is being totted as bloody, extremely violent and chock full of cinematic goodness. Hopefully the setting will add to what EA is calling ” the ultimate in psychological horror” – because as they said so eloquently in “Alien”, in space no one can hear you scream. I really hope that will be the case, because it seems like forever since a game has come along that has actually makes gamers jump outta their barcaloungers and let slip a shocked profanity or two.

North America can expect Dead Space to be made available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 14, while the PC version is expected to arrive in store on October 20. UK gamers will be able to pop their gaming disc into the same systems come October 24.

Pictures of the suits are posted after the jump. The green ones are the Xbox 360 version and the PS3 ones have a bit of blue. Go figure.
