GamesIndustry.biz reports that Electronic Arts and H&M have collaborated to release a new Sims 2 expansion pack including branding from H&M’s High Street retail chain. H&M is the first Brand to break into the popular EA series.
The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff not only allows players to sample High Street’s real-world collections, but they will be able to design their own fashions for their Sims, and create retail settings unique to their game.
“Marrying a fashion-forward company with a game and community recognised around the world for its user-generated content will allow people to reflect their personalities and express their creativity,” said vice president of global brand development at EA, Steve Seabolt.
Players can also compete to have a chance to show off their creations in on-line virtual fashion shows.
“For us the Stuff pack is a fun opportunity to meet our customers and to show parts of our summer collection. The Sims players are known for their creativity, self-expression and cleverness – we are excited to see the participants’ designs for the virtual fashion runaway.” commented Jörgen Andersson, head of marketing at H&M.
With all these new features, it looks like this Stuff pack will add more to the game than just a collection of new items.

I think this is a good way of getting your customers in interact with your brand, providing valuable information for new and creative ideas for design.
Finally customers have a direct input to what they wear, even if it just remains the new online virtual world.
