E3 2008: MadWorld Trailer is Violent and Pretty Awesome

The upcoming Wii exclusive MadWorld from Platinum Games was shown today at E3 and again it looks like Running Man meets Sin City, and that is 10000% fine by me. I want to get my hands on this game more than most really because the artistic styling in the game appeals to me. Oh yeah, and it looks fun too because since it is for the Wii, I am sure you will be making stabbing, slashing, and bludgeon motions to control your character.
Like the previous trailer, this one shows off some more artsy violence and blood and looks far removed from your typical third-person action game. In MadWorld, you will battle opponents using various weapons and items found within the environment, such as chainsaws and street signs, while “sports commentary” is going on the background.
The game is scheduled for release in the early part of 2009.

While awesome it will probably get more panties in a twist than Manhunt 2
This looks to be an interesting, artistic take on a fighting game, i.e. a fairly rara avis in the gaming world.
Having said that: no amount of lipstick is going to cover for the fact that companies are feeling constrained by the lack of processing power available on the Wii. 1 in 1000 can figure something out like this – something intelligent – to compensate for that lack. But, in general, it’s lead to a dearth of games for the system. I have owned the Wii for over a year now.
I have … 3 games that I play (galaxy, ocean, and smash) and 2 that I’m looking forward to (force unleashed even though its physics engine is crippled & final fantasy crystal if it ever releases). These 5 titles don’t even capture give a full sense of my genre interests, but there’s simply not enough good stuff being made for the system.
I look forward to Wii2 in 2010. I’m hoping nintendo can take the same innovative concept but wrap it in a high performance package – a.k.a. the best of both worlds. The mountains of money they have should help that along quite nicely
i like the style and the smash tv type game i cant wait to see it what it looks like in more gameplay videos
The game looks really slow and staggery unless thats my video slowing it down but I don’t see how clean the end result will be cause the Wii has to render all the effects and not even many PC’s are good with post processing effects. Oh well it could just be my video but I doesn’t look as smooth and new age as some games out today (like Gears)
