During the Sony press conference today, Kaz Hirai revealed a new version of PSP is set to be released this holiday season. The PSP looks very similar to the older PSP, but we all know, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Here’s a rundown on how this new PSP differs from the older version:

  • 33% lighter
  • 19% slimmer
  • Battery more efficiant
  • Faster loading of the games
  • Ability to output high quality video

That’s right. This new PSP allows you to hook it up to any television set and display the video that’s playing from your PSP onto the screen with a simple push of the button.

Sony also revealed the PSP will not only come in the traditional Piano Black flavor, but also a new “Ice Silver” color. Sony will also offer an Ice Silver entertainment pack that will feature an Ice Silver PSP, 1GB Memory Stick, Daxter for the PSP, and Family Guy: Frickin’ Sweet edition for $199 which will be available in September.

It also allows you to play games on a big screen not just video.

There was also the limited edition white Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron edition that was brought on stage by Chewbacca.

Good ol Chewbacca, he is the most ho-ed out charactor of the starwars series. He is in all kinds of commercials and advertising. Its a easy way to make a living i guess. but as for the game, thats cool news for my PSP. but i only have 1.5 firmware and i will keep it that way.

I was hoping you guys forgot about the horrible appearance by Chewbacca. Is it just me or was the Chewbacca costume kinda… well, not good looking? I wonder if the actual actor was in that Chewbacca suit or if they just had another Sony exec in there

  4. Xboxlenny says:

I am not sure if it is the real actor. His name is Peter Mayhew. He is 7′3″. I also beleive Lucas films owns the rights to the Chewbacca suit. I am not sure if it was the actor or not. Most times it is the real actor, and he does charity events or Sci-fi nerd conventions.
