Fans of Viva La Bam and Jackass will find that this game is much more than just idiotic stunts and pranks.
PAIN is a creative, user-driven comedic experience that gives gamers the opportunity to control and capture the painful and brainless style of humor that made the previous mentioned shows so popular. The game takes comedy to a new level – no longer scripted gameplay comedy, but user created comedy. The gamer is the architect of the many comedic situations, and you never know how they are going to pan out.
“The core, unique mechanic of the game allows the player to load a character into an extreme launching device, such as a human-sized, ultra-powerful slingshot, and fire the character into an active, physics-controlled environment, filled with precarious and humorous situations. The player receives points by stringing together painful collisions and inducing chaos in the environment. The player must achieve a wide variety of goals and / or reach various scoring milestones in each of the different modes of play.”
The trailer for this game is actually very entertaining, and being able to cause cartoonish pain to an old lady with a walker or tossing a Mime into the air sounds like my kind of sadistic fun. Sony Online Entertainment’s PAIN will be available for the PS3 in the fall.
