DNF Desert

While we mourn the loss of 3D Realms as well as the joke formerly known as Duke Nukem Forever, it seems there are a handful of former employees of 3D Realms who refuse to go quietly into the night. Game assets from what we can only speculate as the final push for DNF are now being leaked onto the internet.

While I’m not sure if their (former employees) motives are sincere, I am getting the feeling there are some former bosses and/or publishing associates who are rather irritated right now.

To give fair warning, some of these are NSFW (not safe for work):

  • To start off, here (or here) we have a demo reel (courtesy of Bryan Brewer) featuring over 2 minutes of DNF footage.
  • Some former (now unemployed) 3DR employees thought it would be good résumé reach out to post their DNF work via blog sites:

  • Tramell Isaac, former art director @ 3DR, released some in-game renders and 3d meshes via his blog site.
  • Layne Johnson, former artist @ 3DR, released some concept art via his blog site.
  • Randy Forsyth, former character artist @ 3DR, released his DNF 3D modeling contribution via his blog site.
  • Andrew over at VE3D has neatly gathered (undoubtedly from here) 28 Hi-Res Screenshots & Entire Plot of DNF.
  • The Chair Story, according to former 3DR employee, Charlie Wiederhold. While not a DNF asset, it is still a funny read nonetheless. It details a conspiracy fabricated by leading members of the industry to keep Duke Nukem Forever’s development ongoing for decades.
  • The Duke himself steps up and makes an official statement.
