Earlier this month we reported that THQ would be releasing Drawn to Life sometime this Fall. Now, it is being reported as a January 2008 release instead. Drawn to Life for the DS, has been toted as a ‘mario-style’ game where instead of your normal custom characterizations, you have more wiggle room in the appearance department. Starting out you will be basic and a bit boxy, yet as you level up you have to add to your appearance to progress. This is not the only way you will progress either, you have to color or draw components that will serve you in some way during each gaming stage. For example, you color-in a whale so that you ride him across the water, sometimes you may have to draw a weapon or something to help your character breathe underwater. The game has fully functional editing tools, unlockable patterns, and a pixel pencil-tool for adding detail. The sky isn’t the limit however; you can not edit your levels, but what you can do is as close to total game creation as this title gets. The graphics are standard 16-bit, which is a bit of a drawback, but they do not seem to distract nor keep it from being an enjoyable little game.
