Bioware’s Dragon Age development team answers questions posted on the Official Forum. Here are some of the highlights from the past week.

It seems David Gader, Lead Writer, was besieged by members asking about gay characters and romance within Dragon Age. Gader does a good job of diplomatically fielding the questions and stating Bioware’s policy on the subject. He also talks about random and unnamed characters and enemies used as ambiance and Bioware’s approach to creating characters for DA. There are questions on NPCs as well; NPCs performing Quests, more emotional NPCs and the inclusion of a comedic female NPC are all covered. He discusses the Magic system, magic and magic equipment restrictions within the game. Gader also covers the handling of mods and addons in DA, basic survival, camps, legendary weapons and questions about the passing of information between game development teams.

Georg Zoeller, Designer, talks about mods and addons in DA as well as Magic System and Magic. He also gives a developers perspective on Stacking damage over time effects and armor and dodge mechanics. Mary Kirby, Writer, also talks about basic survival in DA and the role of camps. Chris Priestly, Community Coordinator, talks about the role of Focus testing in the Bio writers’ approach to creating characters. Stanley Woo, QA Ninja, talks about the kind of people who make good Bio writers. Sheryl Chee, Writer talks about where the races of DA are likely to be encountered.

If you have questions about Dragon Age visit the official forums. Maybe your question will be featured in next week’s update.
