lost odyssey logo1 Dont Pre Order Lost Odyssey, and You Wont Get the Full GameThinking about picking up Lost Odyssey? I’m not, but that’s because I have a severe aversion to Japanese RPGs that require several novels worth of text anyway. For the rest of you however, you might want to run out and pre-order the game before it reaches store shelves. Otherwise, you may end up missing out on a chunk of the story. Those who pre-order the game will receive a special card that will allow you to download a couple of things for the game. The first, called “The Forgotten Song,” is used to bring up one of the main character’s lost memories. Since the story revolves mainly around an amnesiac who is trying to recover said memories, this could bring some insight into the story as a whole. The second is an item that grants the skill “Weapon Guard 2,” which makes the whole game slightly easier. Both of these items though aren’t going to be available anywhere else after the game is released.

While I do like receiving an extra bonus for pre-ordering a game from time to time, I can’t think of any time I was practically penalized for not pre-ordering. And I thought releasing “downloadable content” that only unlocks stuff already on the disc was sneaky.

That seriously pisses me off. I don’t have a 360 yet, but I am an rpg enthusiast who will probably play this one day (maybe a year out or so). Knowing that I won’t be getting the whole game may make me reconsider – I can’t believe that the artist who worked on the game would let it go incomplete for so many who don’t preorder.

  2. HATER says:

I agree with the hating that will ensue, but because I *HATE* wordy Japanese RPGs with tons of pointless text (that’s disguised as “depth”) and are ALWAYS based on huge combo systems… “Oh yes, I hit these Undead Bad Guys 300 times in a row! My combat multiplier is now 2! TEE HEE!!”

I’ve been to Japan. I’m allowed to hate the fuckers.

I say we all boycott the game. Forcing me to pre-order a game, especially when I HATE pre-ordering is evil and these people suck……
