If you’re not currently dealing with your lack of a hard drive, chances are anyone that owns Burnout Paradise is enjoying its fantastic online component. Something you might have missed in the recent comment issued by Criterion hinted at the game’s inevitable DLC (emphasis ours):
Crucially we also didn’t want to split the playing community between those that have updated data and those that don’t. We saw this as vital in maintaining simplicity to all online users; different players having different content packages wouldn’t be able to play online with each other.
An EA rep told MTV Multiplayer, “It’s our intention to extend the life of Burnout with additional DLC in the near future. As mentioned, we don’t want to split the online community between those that have content and those that don’t. Our intention is to offer both free and paid for DLC in a way that enables everyone to ’see’ the content, even if they have not paid for it.”
It’s anyone’s guess as to how that is actually going to work, but it certainly sounds interesting. I know I’m not the only person here at Gaming Today that’s been enjoying Paradise, so we’ll all be happy to know that future DLC won’t segment the community. I’m looking at you, GRAW.

EA? Free DLC? You mean the company that put out DLC for Tiger Woods that basically charges you if you’d like to unlock stuff that would become unlocked if you just play the game?
I’ll believe it when I see it…
