Disney to Acquire China-based Developer Gamestar

Disney Interactive Studios has announced it will be acquiring Gamestar. One of China’s leading indie developers, Gamestar has built a solid reputation for high quality art and technology solutions in just six years.

“Gamestar will play an important role in our global growth plans, providing a high quality talent pool for our expanding product portfolio,” said Graham Hopper, executive vice president and general manager, Disney Interactive Studios. “Our global expansion is aimed at achieving a new level of creative capacity, quality, and expertise in video game software development.”

Gamestar Studios in Shanghai and Wuhan will join Warren Spector’s Junction Point Studios, Avalanche Software, Fall Line Studio, Propaganda Games and Black Rock Studio as part of Disney’s growing international portfolio.
