Dig Dug: The Untold Story

When you think of most people’s list for “Greatest Video Game Hero of All Time”, you often see characters like Master Chief, Mario, and a Final Fantasy character sprinkled in for good measure. But often then not, these lists never take into account the old school heroes. The characters who simply either wanted to save their girlfriend from some monster who kidnapped her during a picnic or something even simpler like an invading alien army which you are chosen to destroy.
One man’s story pretty much didn’t have a story, but his world was a compelling one:
“….being that we are in the age of “next-gen” gaming, we were sick of seeing all these videos about 1080p this and 60 frames per second that….We wanted to take a step back and pay tribute to one of our founding fathers, a character that didn’t need a background story, that didn’t take any crap from anyone, and used a sort of an air gun to pump his enemies up until they exploded…. that man of course, is Dig Dug.”
Awesome. No more is needed.
That is pretty funny. Just brings back the old arcade feel in a Wolfenstien feel. Can you imagine if they made a first person Dig Dug “shooter”. Would be cool. They need to bring more old school games back. Well done.
