You may have heard the theory that by paying the extra $5 or $10 last generation for collector’s editions of games, it paved the way for $60 price tags on games. I’m beginning to wonder if the $130 Legendary Edition of Halo 3 isn’t paving the way for higher prices on other Collector’s/Limited Edition games – Grand Theft Auto IV’s was announced to be $90, and Devil May Cry 4 will be pushing the limit as well when it releases an $80 Collector’s Edition.
The DMC4 Collector’s Edition will include:
- Volume 1 of ADV Film’s Devil May Cry: The Animated Series on DVD, including four complete episodes of the anime (a retail value of $29.99)
- Unique Steelbook™ metal case
- Bonus DVD
- Making of Devil May Cry 4
- Music from the soundtrack
- Digital artbook
- PC content (screen savers, wallpapers, icons)
If you really love Devil May Cry I suppose you could justify it since it includes the DVD, but casual fans will be better off opting for the regular version.

They need to change the name from collectors edition to suckers edition…
i have to agree with licence to ill, this aint worth the price.
and is it just me, or are collectors/limited editions getting generic?
save for the anime edisodes, the rest is pretty much what you could find in any other limited edition.
but ill probably still this it when its going cheaper, i just like knowing ive got the best possible edition of any given game.
