Despite Mattrick’s Claim, GTA IV’s Online Component Not 360 Exclusive

On a special Major Nelson podcast posted last night, Microsoft Senior VP of Interactive Entertainment, Don Mattrick, was interviewed and discussed the shortage of Xbox 360 systems (who knew?) and Grand Theft Auto IV. In what was most likely a slip-up with his words, Mattrick stated that an online multiplayer component was a feature exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of the game.
“It’s an amazing piece of software, and I’m really excited with its downloadable content and online multiplayer support – again, that’s something that’s unique to 360,” he said.
But Rockstar has confirmed to CVG that “both versions of Grand Theft Auto IV will have an online multiplayer component.” Looks like Mattrick simply meant to imply that DLC was what is unique to 360 – not the online multiplayer.
So, that’s good news for PlayStation 3 owners who are already going to be left out in the dark when that DLC rolls around, but at least they’ll be able to play online.

He probably just meant they have exclusivity on having to pay to use the online features.
@ Norbit, before you judge something, know something about it you ignorant fuck
also this is good because i don’t want to PS3 fanboys whining.
Bah! I bet the DLC will be new textures.. Like new clothes and other car paintjobs, or something similar.
I don’t really care about DLC. I’m sure GTA IV will be entertaining me for a long time. EVEN on the PS3. If it doesn’t, I can always watch a Blu-ray movie. :p

Ignorant? Is Xbox Live free to play online now?
No. Retard.
